I-WHY A EUROPEAN AGENDA?

The European Youth Agenda originally emerged as a synthesis of brainstorming that our group performed at the onset of labor to decide how to celebrate the upcoming May 9 so that such an event and its meaning could reach the maximum number of people. We found an Agenda meets several interesting conditions:
   ● On the one hand, is a practical and functional mean of transmitting information, manageable and easy to transport, widely used among young people, serving even diary, and can be consulted at any time, by necessity or curiosity.
   ● A daily calendar is used repeatedly with different purposes and, therefore, becomes a means of transmission and dissemination of important information among young people. We intended that the means of transmission could be "used" repeatedly, they had to "read and watch", accompany continuously for consultation, it was "soaking" gradually to its user, not just how to use a message Mobile you just erased and that no record. Our ultimate aim is that information could be "read every day" for all European citizens. That the Agenda becomes an intimate element of the person using it.
   ● Finally, an agenda is likely to capture the multidisciplinary nature that carries information on Europe. Through an agenda can be channeled interesting information of various kinds for the young:
   ● Citizenship: information relating to the rights that every European citizen has to possess such a condition.
   ● Websites relating to their studies
   ● Exchanges with young people from other countries for various purposes, not only linguistic
   ● Event daily showing the construction of the EU
   ● Weird News
   ● Spaces of reflection: the ecology and the environment, sustainable development, illegal immigration, European and other "European issues" related are entirely valid and we pretended that our agenda is a channel of information and awareness for young citizens. When we got down to the work we discovered that there was another additional reason, in part mentioned already, to draw up a European agenda of these characteristics: the activity had an interdisciplinary character, and this meant that up to 4 teaching departments saw our center involved in its implementation and advice in various aspects: historical milestones of the EU, distribution of species across the continent, text translation, design, etc.. There are usually many reasons for different departments to work together.
II-OBJECTIVES.

With this work we would like:
· Contribute to the realization that the EU is still a process construction since 1945 in which all European citizens are called to take part.
· Introduce the EU to its citizens living space where we all move.
· To contribute to mutual understanding between European countries, not only through common natural heritage and unites us possess, but also through languages of Europe. The ultimate vocation of the agenda would be that it can be read both a Norwegian and a Spanish or Portuguese.
· To provide an intimate and personal tool that can be used daily for any young of any European nationality to serve you reminder of the previous mentioned premises.
· Encourage young students to participate in the numerous projects mobility of people sponsoring the EU aimed at the realization of study or work practices outside the country of origin: Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo, etc.
· Consequently, closer ties between European citizens, giving us know each other…

What do we celebrate on 9th May?

Europe Day is a celebration that takes place every May 9 in the European Union, named in memory of the Schuman Declaration, in which the French foreign minister, Robert Schuman, gave the first step for the integration of European states by proposing that coal and steel from Germany (then West Germany) and France (and other countries) to submit to a joint administration, promoting the creation of the first European Community: the coal and steel, being thus the origin of the current European Union. The importance of this proposal made in 1950 lies further that by subjecting the two productions of the arms industry indispensable to a single authority, countries participating in this organization, find great difficulty in case you want to start a war between them.

The commemoration of this date takes place since 1985, after approval by the Heads of State and Government at the European Council. Despite being the only official celebration day in the European Union is considered a weekday and the celebrations organized by the member states are not equated to those performed on the occasion of national holidays in each state.

History:  Schuman Declaration
Five years after the end of the Second World War, the largest war in history, the European continent was mired in devastation and the threat of a new war looming over Europe.

At 6 pm on May 9, 1950 press was called at the Salon de l'Horloge of the French Foreign Ministry at the Quai d'Orsay, Paris, for a "communication of the utmost importance," which had been written by Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman spoke, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The proposal was to create a European supranational institution, which is responsible for managing joint production of coal and steel, so that the countries participating in it would give up the ownership of the armament industry, so would be under control.

Designation of the festival
In 1985 Milan Summit of Heads of State and Government decided to celebrate 9 May as "Europe Day". The official designation of that day in May as Europe Day, coincided with the centenary of the birth of Schuman (1886), who along with Jean Monnet, Konrad Adenauer and Alcide De Gasperi, are considered the founding fathers of the European Community.

On 9 May has become a European symbol which, together with the European flag, motto and the European anthem. Europe Day is a unique symbol of the EU, unlike the flag and anthem are symbols of Europe by extension. This is because the Schuman declaration came after the creation of the Council of Europe, from which the other two symbols.
Celebration
Despite being the only official celebration day of the EU, in practice none of the member countries of the Union organizes high-level commemorative festivities, such as those performed on the occasion of national holidays in each state. However, in 2006 France organized various celebrations which included free entry to the hall where the speech was delivered, and the lighting of Paris Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower with blue.

The European public postal organization PostEurop, printed a stamp in honor of the European day which came into service on May 9, 2000, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. Each year the European Commission published a promotional poster, which includes a different reason each time, accompanied by a slogan regarding a current issue within the EU.

Many schools celebrate the May 9 to convey to students the importance of this day in their lives. Children and young people are the future citizens of the European Union, so teachers increasingly participate in activities and initiatives that promote Europeanism.

It’s worth remarking the celebrations promoted by the Cell Europe of Ciudad Real seeking to spread this day in the field of education.

European Citizenship: Your rights

To learn more: http://www.euroefe.com/1381_tus-derechos/
Did you know that by simply having the nationality of a Member State of the European Union you have also the European citizenship? European citizenship is a civilian status, not replace, state citizenship, a European person has automatically. Therefore, the sum always European citizenship, is added or complemented nationality you have. This generates a series of rights and benefits for the sake of being a European citizen. In short, if you are a citizen of an EU Member State, congratulations! Already a citizen of the European Union. At first glance, having European citizenship does not say much. However, many of the natural procedures performed or we will have much to do with this freedom but if we do not explain what we would not know that these rights have a direct effect originating from the European Union.

You must know that all European citizens are equal. Therefore, there is equal treatment. This implies that nationality is not an exclusionary or discriminatory condition that states can apply. For example, a student of German or Spanish in Germany, should be irrelevant for the grant paid by the state (unless you travel, of course). Therefore, we all have the same conditions as citizens in any Member State of the European Union.
Among the many advantages we have by having European citizenship, here we highlight some of the most important:

-Exclusive Rights

The rights conferred by citizenship of the Union in accordance with the Treaties are:
-Right to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States.
-Right to perform any job in the Member States except those reserved public sector, for security reasons, to nationals.
-Right of access to documents of the Parliament, the Council and the European Commission.
-Right to vote and stand as candidates in elections to the European Parliament and in municipal elections in the Member State of residence, under the same conditions as nationals of that State.
-Right to enjoy, in the territory of a third country not represented the Member State of which they are nationals, protection of diplomatic and consular authorities of any Member State.
-Right to petition the European Parliament, to apply to the European Ombudsman, and to address the institutions and advisory bodies of the Union in one of the languages of the Treaties and to obtain a reply in the same language.
-Right of initiative to ask the Commission to present a bill.

Rights for all

The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union stated in a single text the civil, political, economic and social that are protected equally in all Member States.

In the EU are also protected consumers, who enjoy specific rights. These rights are not exclusive to European citizens, but extend to any person who performs a commercial transaction in the EU, even online.

Advantages of being European

Be a citizen of the Union to offer, on the other hand, a number of advantages and facilities, in some cases financial-in health, education, training, work and pensions.

For example, the EU has adopted a directive establishing a system of mutual recognition of university qualifications applicable to all races with a duration of three years at least.

European citizens traveling within the Union can obtain from the authorities of your country have a European Health Insurance Card, which helps cover medical expenses if you get sick in another country.
In addition...

1. If you travel by the EU...

You are not required to show any identification card at the border. However, we do need to board transport and, above all, to identify in another state or in your own state.

If you have problems with your flight, you should know that you are entitled to reimbursement or rerouting if you are denied boarding, over 5 hours late, or if there is overbooking. Additionally, if you canceled the flight, you are denied boarding or arrive with more than 3 hours late, you are entitled to financial compensation in range 250 € and 600 € (depending on the Km).

Did you know that you can travel with your pet freely throughout the EU with the only requirement of having the passport of the animal? This passport is valid for dogs, cats and ferrets. Passports are issued by veterinarians.

Finally, you should know that there is no restriction to transport animals or dairy products within the EU.

2. If you have European driving license...

If you are a national of a Member State of the European Union (Spanish, for example), you should know that driving license you can drive across the Union. Similarly, both the vehicle insurance as part for claims is completely valid in all Member States (obviously has to be in force).

For 6 months you can drive your vehicle by another member state without having to pay any tax or new registration. But, stay more than six months residence is understood as what it does, then it should re-register the vehicle in the new state of residence.

Also, thanks to a European Directive, insurance companies can no longer discriminate between man and woman when offering auto insurance.

3. If you are a student...

For starters, the equal treatment which involves initially talked, for example, that an Italian resident in Finland has the same rights and duties as any other Finnish. It is possible that a school can bring some kind of language test. This is logical and consistent, however, the school also must have certain exceptions: for example, if the Italian boy has the whole family working and living in Finland seems logical that the Italian boy will have to enroll in school.
If you're a college student in another EU country, you pay the same rates as any national of that State. This implies, for example, that an Englishman will not pay any fees to enroll in a Masters in Sweden (since there is completely free education). However, as in England, education is not free in its entirety, the Swedish student must pay fees to any Englishman would pay to enroll in a Masters in England. One of the exceptions that apply to students is that to get scholarships or States' own subsistence, they must have lived at least 5 years in the State where you are studying. However, many states have scholarships to non-nationals, or both, the original State Student often offer scholarships for out of state students.
One of the most important benefits if you're a college student of the European Union, is the ability to go from Erasmus to study or do internships. Receive EU subsidies, and sometimes the member states themselves. Furthermore, recognition of college credit is automatic and, why deny it, Erasmus is one of the best experiences that a European citizen can have. Until the entry of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA or Bologna Plan), the recognition of university degrees was not automatic. Now, with this new model of higher education, ECTS credits are common throughout the EU. This, in the future, not only should help increase mobility but also automatically recognize qualifications throughout the EU.
If you are a researcher, you are entitled to take advantage of emerging opportunities and job training grants and scholarships funded by member countries but not a resident or have another nationality.

4. If you want to study or live in another EU country...

As a student, worker or pensioner can live up to three months in another Member State without notice. Passing these three months, you must register in the Register of the State where you reside which issue a certificate. If more than 5 years lived permanently in another Member State ... automatically would receive the right to permanent residence.

May. Shopping in the EU...

You must know that any product you buy first hand any EU Member State and through any medium has a two year warranty. This means that you are eligible for repair or replacement of the defective product (or it does not correspond with advertising) during these two years. And always the seller will be held responsible. It is very important to note that this warranty is not replaceable by any other that we may acquire additional warranty. Used products will have a minimum of one year warranty.

The tax impact on the state where you purchased the product. However, if you buy a vehicle you should pay VAT in the State where you go to register the vehicle.

MAKE ENFORCE YOUR RIGHTS. Currently, many companies and professionals that offer their services in the EU discriminate against customers who live in another European country. Some may continue to act in this way, even with the entry into force of the new EU rules.

Your rights are not respected when an online store does not sell a product, a supermarket refuses to give the customer card or you're forced to pay more to book your holiday simply because you live in another EU country.

If you decide to buy online, phone, fax or mail, remember you have the right to receive all information regarding the company and the product. There is also the so-called right of withdrawal. This implies that a European citizen has 7 days to cancel minimum purchase made with or without defects. Upon cancellation, the seller must integrate the amount of the band plus shipping in full.

6. Your Health in the EU ...

To stay in the EU, the European Health Insurance Card will cover all possible expenses in case of medical problems in the EU Member States. It is living proof of having a valid insurance (in all EU countries, this right is automatic in the European citizenship since health is universal in all EU Member States.). So, never forget your card. The EHIC will guarantee a European citizen to receive the same conditions as nationals of that other State in the EU.

Our Plan for the Initiative 9M.

WHAT DOES IT CONSIST?
On the occasion of May 9, Europe Day, and since this year is the European Year of Citizens we will hold a meeting of European citizens in our city, Ciudad Real.

A meeting will be a simple tribute to citizenship and to be multidisciplinary:

In part shall be considered as conference and symposium, in which will read some of the most representative articles of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU related to citizenship and the values that inspire the European Union.

Exposure will be also an exhibition (historical pictures and videos, disseminating scientific achievements, introduction of the euro, European nature, social events, etc…)

It will have several instrumental performances, some sung and / or danced, some "hymns" well known in Europe (the European anthem itself, the "Te Deum" which is the basis of the Eurovision anthem and the anthem of the Champions).

Poetry reading character will, in which some European citizens living and / or working in Ciudad Real read in their own language (English, Gaelic, French, Dutch and Italian) and tell us what has meant for them the experience of coming to Spain, the Personal Enrichment course to them, their integration with the Spanish and their longing for the land they left years ago. Also tell us what is to them the text they have chosen to read (read themselves also in Spanish, or one of us, for most of the general public can understand);

Likewise we’ll connect via handg-out (G+) with Spaniards working or studying in other European countries and also tell us what has been their life experience and their level of integration in other societies.

It will present the European Youth Agenda we have developed aimed at secondary school students and university: The European Youth Agenda in its first version is aimed at Spanish and European students with knowledge of Spanish, but overlooking that can be read by other European citizen nationalities (mainly French and English). We believe that the European Youth Agenda may be a permanent vehicle to maintain over time the awareness of European citizenship beyond the week of May 9.

Finally, we’ll end up playing a festive song by M. Rios "United", based on the melody of the "Te Deum" (hymn of Eurovision) and the Eurovision song by Rosa, our representative in Eurovision a few years ago, "Europe's living a celebration" with the consequent release of blue and yellow balloons .

WHERE?
We contacted with an official of the Europe Direct Centre in our city and we explain our need to find a spacious lounge where citizens hold this meeting. The Center, under the city of Ciudad Real, immediately offered one of the rooms they use for similar events and that is where our celebration will take place:
